It simply is not true that the Hebridean Islands don’t have any shops, but it is true that they do have more weather than they have shops. Harris, Lewis, North and South Uist may not be to everyone’s liking, but they are the perfect place for a poet who loves nature and solitude in more or less equal measure. After eight fascinating escape days we drove from the Polochar Inn and boarded the ferry at Lochboisdale, a return to Scotland’s mainland. Onwards to Stirling, where they do have an abundance of shops, and where I found a place for reflection to begin Stirling Castle - The Chapel Poems
